Advanced Conductor Technologies was founded in June 2011 to commercialize high-temperature superconducting CORC® cables for high-field magnet and power transmission applications.
Three Phase I SBIR/STTR grants were awarded to Advanced Conductor Technologies in early 2012 by the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Navy, for developing CORC® cables.
Advanced Conductor Technologies currently has a total of four Phase II SBIR/STTR grants, awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Navy, in support of bringing CORC® cables to market.
The company expanded into a 3000 square foot facility in Boulder, Colorado in 2013 and currently has three employees.
President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Danko van der Laan holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. He founded Advanced Conductor Technologies and is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. He is also a Senior Research Associate at the University of Colorado and a Guest Researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Dr. van der Laan invented the CORC® cable technology and secured ten Phase I and four Phase II SBIR/STTR grants from the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory and the U.S. Navy since 2012.
Chief Administrative Officer Ms. Annemiek Kamphuis holds a Master of Science degree in Communication Studies from the Univeristy of Twente in the Netherlands and previously worked as Research Administrator at the University of Colorado.
